A Farmer's Life (George Shields)
Up at six to milk the cows
while everyone's asleep
Feed the calves feed himself
Then off to feed the sheep.
Feeds the cows, feeds some yowes
In the winter snow
Thaws the pipes beside the trough
To make the water flow
From tupping time to lambing time
To haytime in the sun
It seems to me a farmer's life
Is never ever done.
