Webcams
Webcams are cameras which are connected to the Internet. People who log on to the Internet can look through these cameras. Some cameras take still pictures periodically, usually every few minutes. Other cameras give a continuous outlook so that viewers can see what they are pointing at at any time. Cameras are now in position all over the world and the number is increasing all the time.

There is a Webcam in Loch Ness recording continuously - if you look through this you could be the first to see the Loch Ness monster. There are Webcams pointing at cities, bridges, beaches, offices and even gold fish bowls. In fact the first Webcam was developed at Cambridge by some smart students who pointed it at a coffeee pot. They wanted to know if there was coffee in the pot which was located on another floor of the building - it saved walking all the way to the pot to find it empty.
