Declarations of Interest
There were no declarations of personal or prejudicial interest in any item on this agenda.

Apologies for absence had been received from Cllr James Richardson and District Councillor George Boustead

Minutes of the Meeting held on Thursday 8th November 2007 had been circulated and were signed by the Chairman as a correct record.

Children’s Playgrounds
Clerk reported that Eden District Council’s bid for £200,000. to the Big Lottery fund for play areas had been successful.  This will enable EDC to grant £15,000 to Ravenstonedale which will be sufficient to complete the Newbiggin-on-Lune playground.  The Clerk will attend a meeting of Eden District Play Partnership on Wed 16th January at 2.00pm at Frenchfields, Penrith to learn the details of distribution terms and conditions.
It was also reported that the proposed equipment for N-o-L has been approved  by EDC Planning Dept. in accordance with condition 5 of the planning consent.

New rates for parish councillors’ allowances were reported. 
Councillors resolved not to claim allowances.
Resolved that a Bank Standing Order be made for payment of rent for N-o-L play area in accordance with terms of the lease.  Clerk to arrange.

Ravenstonedale High Chapel
It was again reported that the draft lease requested in June 2007 had not been received.  It was noted that any activities taking place in the chapel had no connection with the Parish Council.

Eden Association of Local Councils
Chairman reported on a meeting which he had attended on 12th December 2007.
The main item was the proposed revised system of highway maintenance by Cumbria     Highways.

Parish Paths Initiative
The parish council has registered its interest in the scheme but has yet to carry out inspection of footpaths. Cllr Morriss reported a gate missing/broken at Bowber Head – exact location to be identified.
           
Registration of Village Greens 2007
Further consideration was given to areas in the parish which might be registered.  Clerk will find out what areas are already registered as common land.

Cumbria Highways
New Rapid Response system for highway faults
Information leaflets had been received regarding current and planned roadworks on major highways.

Kirkby Stephen Community & Council Centre
A request for funding towards running costs had been received from the Community & Council Centre. 
It was resolved that a donation of £50.00 be made.

Oak Tree – Ravenstonedale Green
A notice had been received from Alizon Hall, arboriculturist, EDC, that a large oak tree on the green is in need of attention.  Clerk had ascertained that the Green is registered in the ownership of the Hewetson Trust and informed Ms Hall accordingly.

Quality Parish Scheme
The Clerk had responded to a consultation by NALC on future development of the scheme.
