Minutes of a Meeting held on Thursday 13th January 2005
in Newbiggin-on-Lune Public Hall at 7.30 pm

Present: Councillor John Bull (Chairman), Councillors Caroline Morris,

Minutes of the Meeting held on Thursday 11th November 2004 had been circulated.
Resolved that the minutes be signed by the Chairman as a correct record.

Children’s Playgrounds
It was reported that the land transfer document for the Ravenstonedale site had been received and would be passed to the Council’s solicitor for the terms to be checked.
A response from Carter Jonas regarding the Newbiggin site was still pending. The clerk had been trying to progress this item.

Freedom of Information Act 2000
Resolved that a Statement of Ravenstonedale Parish Council Policy regarding information available should be published in Link in accordance with the requirements of the Act which came fully into force on 1st January 2005.

Proposed Recycling Centre for Ravenstonedale
A site on the grass verge to the rear of the school, opposite Elm Lodge, had been agreed with EDC following Parish Council consultation with neighbours

Quality Parishes
A Guide to becoming a Quality Parish booklet had been sent to all councillors.
The question was put “Should Ravenstonedale apply for ‘Quality Parish’ status”.
It was decided that the Chairman and Clerk should meet Clive Moth of CALC to discuss the possible advantages for Ravenstonedale.

National Tree Week
Ravenstonedale Parish has been offered an Oak Tree by Cumbria County Council.
Resolved that it be planted on the Millennium Field.

Air Ambulance
An appeal for funding had been received from the North West Air Ambulance. The Parish Council has supported this charity in the past. Some confusion had arisen between the North West Air Ambulance – based at Blackpool - and the Great North Air Ambulance – based at Appleby/Penrith.
Resolved that the sum of £100.00 be donated to the Great North Air Ambulance Service, “Pride of Cumbria”.

Standards Board for England
Further guidance for members had been circulated with the Agenda.

Whinash Windfarm
Public Inquiry commences 19th April 2005 at Shap Wells Hotel.
Ravenstonedale, Orton, Tebay and Shap parishes have been invited to be represented under the umbrella of the NoWhinash Group.
Resolved that a nominal financial contribution of £50.00 be made to the No Whinash campaign.

Grasscutting
Tenders will be invited for grasscutting in the parish for the season 2005.
It was agreed that an additional area should be cut opposite the Methodist Chapel, Newbiggin-on-Lune

It was reported that the Trustees for Ravenstonedale Combined Charities are now:
