There is a tennis court in the village for use by residents and visitors alike. The surface is tarmac. It was completely renovated in August 2005.

Appointment of Officers
Chairman-Stan Frost.  All in favour.

Secretary-Caroline Morris is resigning.  Kay Brown has agreed to take over.  All in favour.
1. The Officers were thanked for all their work over the year.
2. Kay Brown was welcomed as new Secretary and thanked for taking on the office.

5. Membership subs to remain as before. Family £20.00 Adult £10.00 Child (up to 16 years) £5.00
6. Repairs to vandalised hut. Richard Staley and the other parents have offered to repair the hut with the help of the children who were responsible for the damage. This offer was much appreciated and readily agreed to.
7. Repairs to existing bench. Jenny Woodhouse kindly offered to replace the missing slats. Her offer is much appreciated.
8. It was proposed by the Treasurer that the Club should purchase another bench.  All in favour.
9. It was also suggested that we should buy a new net and use the present one for the winter months.
10. The Membership Subscription notice usually attached to the netting next to the court door has been broken. It was agreed that the Club should ask the sign makers at Bowberhead to make a new notice and also a sign to put above the hut entrance with the wording Ravenstonedale Tennis Club.  All in favour.
11. The new notice should also include some rules of etiquette. Caroline Morris in consultation with Stan Frost will consider what etiquette rules are required and will arrange to make publicity notices to be displayed in the hut and local hotels etc.
12. Stan Frost kindly offered to purchase the bench and net in consultation with the Treasurer and also to arrange about the wording and making of the new signs. His offer is much appreciated.
13. American Tournament. The date for the tournament is Saturday, August 2nd. Juniors (Age 15 or less) start 10.30am. Adults (Age 16 or over) start 12.00. Entry fees, Adults £2, Juniors £1. Helen Shields has very kindly offered to put on her excellent barbecue and with the departure of Bob Bagot Jenny Woodhouse has very kindly offered to organise the tournament.  Kay Brown will arrange publicity for the Link.

Boon Days
Each year, at the start of the season, we have a 'boon day'. A 'boon day' is a day when people get together to help out on a project, in this case to clean up the tennis court. We also hold the Tennis Club AGM each boon day. Boon Day 2008 is on Saturday April 26th.

American Tournaments
Each year we have a competition or two, often an American Tennis Tournament, ably organised by Bob Bagot. The following pictures were taken in July 2006. More pictures.

50th Anniversary
On a warm and sunny Saturday afternoon (July 5th 2003) the tournament held by the tennis club to celebrate their 50th anniversary was an event enjoyed by all as these pictures show. An effort was made to invite founder members of the club. More pictures.

Renovation
The court was competely renovated in August 2005.

Tennis Champ
On the occasion of the twins christening Clive presented Stan with a 'Tennis Champ' trophy, to be competed for between them, as and whenever they are on the court. Clive's intention was that the cup would only be loaned to Stan for a short time. However it has largely remained in Stan's trophy cabinet ever since. Meanwhile the twins are growing up and have more chance of nicking the trophy than Clive.
