Shrove Tuesday Pancake Lunch at Garshill Farmhouse

Almost 40 people gathered at the home of John & Tosca Bull for this annual event. Pancakes were served with many different fillings and these were preceded by soup and followed by tea and coffee.

Coffee Morning at Artlegarth Lodges

Hilda & Stephen Hodgson have kindly offered one of their Scandinavian style lodges as a venue for a coffee morning. Come along and have a look round the lodges and their beautiful setting in The Howgills. Just follow the sign from the top of the village.

Italian Flavored Coffee Morning

Everyone welcome as always to another gathering at the home of John & Tosca Bull. This is to provide funds for the Country Fair in June. Lots of good things to eat, raffle and 'Bring & Buy'.

Janet's Jaunt - Sponsored Walk around the Parish

Start & finish at St Oswald's, walk at your own pace on either Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Janet is planning a lovely route with lost of interest along the way - about 8 miles, but you don't have to do it all.

Another kind invitation from Christopher Harrison-Beck.

Midsummer Breakfast at Cold Keld

Following the 8.30 service. Minibus transport from church or just make you own way anytime before noon. If the weather is nice we will follow this with a guided walk on Fell End Clouds to see where the lead was mined for the church roof.

By kind invitation of the Fothergill Family. Tower House, situated next to Brownber Hall, is one of the oldest houses in the parish and this will be a wonderful opportunity to look at the house and surroundings. Tickets £5-Tel 015396 23676 or 23629.

Organists Dick Barlow, Barbara Stephens and Betty Dent played their way through the whole A&M Hymn book - all 636 of them. Occasionally they had a few people singing along with them and then a T.V. crew arrived to give us a bit of extra publicity

Mary Corder's Sponsored Swim

Mary thought she would be able to manage one kilometer which is 40 lengths of Appleby Swimming pool but there was no stopping her once she got going and she went on for a further 24 lengths, 1 mile in only 1 hour 20 minutes!
