David and Paula On a beautiful day in September 2007 David and Paula married at St Oswald's. Paula arrived at the church by horse-drawn carriage to become Mrs Brownrigg. David is yet another ex Young Farmer and Friends to succumb to marriage. Rumours are now rife on who will be next.
Alan and Hilary Alan and Hilary tied the knot at St. Oswald's on a sunny afternoon in August 2007. Most of the village turned out to wish them well. As is the custom in Cumbria local children tied the church gates together, refusing to let Mr and Mrs Law leave the church grounds until best man Dick threw them a bag of foreign coins.
Keith and Margaret On a beautiful Sunday afternoon in July 2007 Keith and Margaret hosted a joint 70th birthday. The event was held outside on an exceptionally warm day with lots of sunshine and with Wildboar and the adjoining fells as a stunning backdrop. An avid jazz fan, Keith entertained his guests with his saxophone.
It's
a Knockout An end of term celebration was organised by the School PTFA
on a beautiful summer evening in July 2003. Held on the new
millennium field the event involved lots of fun and games and
was a memorable evening for all involved.
A Journey of Soles In the year of the millennium Ken and Kathy Trimmer walked from
Lands End to John O'Groats in aid of the charity Rainbow Trust.
Kathy subsequently wrote an account of the walk entitled Journey
of Soles. The book was published in 2003 and was launched at
a book signing ceremony at The Book House in July 2003.
Tennis Club 50th Anniverary On July 5th 2003 the tennis club held a tournament to commemorate
its 50th anniversary. A light-hearted event, the tournament
produced a wonderful afternoon of good crack and laughter.
Annual
Harvest Auction The
annual auction of harvest produce was held in our Newbiggin-on-Lune
public hall on 6th October2003. Michael MG
once again starred as the mad auctioneer giving a fine (as expected)
performance, selling many a fine vegetable to those who inadvertently
scratched their ears.
